Located 56 km (35 mi) southwest of Antigua, Redonda is a small Caribbean island discovered and named by Columbus in 1493. It is home to many sea birds, and the island was an important source of guano before artificial fertilizers started to be mass-produced.

Located near the Lord Howe Island between Australia and New Zealand, the Ball´s Pyramid is a high rock island of volcanic origin formed about 6.4 million years ago. With its height of 562 m (1,844 ft), it is the tallest volcanic stack in the world.





21 Keats Island, Canada

Situated on the Eastport Peninsula of Bonavista Bay near the community of Salvage, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, the Keats Island is a little uninhabited island and a popular kayaking area due the abundance of sea stacks and sea arches found around the island.

20 Palmyra Atoll, USA

Located between Hawaii and American Samoa, Palmyra Atoll is a little unoccupied atoll consisting of an extensive reef, lagoons and some 50 islets. Resembling a tropical paradise, the island is covered with coconut trees, Scaevola plants, and tall Pisonia trees.





19 Makronisos, Greece

Extending over an area of 20 sq km (7.7 sq mi), Makronisos is an island in the Aegean Sea. Called Helena in ancient time, the island is now uninhabited but it used to serve as a prison island from the time of the Greek Civil War up until the restoration of democracy in 1974.





18 Eil Malk, Palau

One of the Mecherchar Islands, a small collection of limestone or coral reefs, Eil Malk is a 6 km (3.7 mi) long and 4.5 km (2.8 mi) wide uninhabited island belonging to Palau. There are more than 10 lakes on the island, including the famous Jellyfish Lake in the east of the island.





17 Manana Island, USA

An uninhabited islet in the Hawaiian Islands, Manana Island is often referred to as Rabbit Island, because its shape as seen from the nearby shore looks like a rabbit’s head and because it was once inhabited by introduced rabbits. It also serves as a seabird sanctuary.





16 Diamond Rock, Martinique

The Diamond Rock is a 175 m (574 ft) high basalt island belonging to the Caribbean island of Martinique, an oversees region of France. A popular scuba-diving spot, the uninhabited island gets its name from the reflections that its sides cast at certain hours of the day.

15 Scharhorn, Germany

Occupying an area of about 20 hectare (49 acres), Scharhorn is an uninhabited island in the North Sea belonging to the city of Hamburg, Germany. Public access to the island is forbidden, except on official tours or by prior arrangement with the warden.

Out of almost 1,200 islands found in the Maldivian archipelago, about a thousand are uninhabited. Famous for their crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches, these beautiful tropical islands are very small, usually just a few hundred meters across.

Located within the Lofoten archipelago in Northern Norway, the Mosken Island is a small rocky uninhabited island known for its extremely strong maelstrom (very powerful whirlpool). Historically, this picturesque island was used for grazing sheep.





12 Devon Island, Canada

The world´s largest uninhabited island, Devon Island spreads over an area of more than 55,000 sq km (21,300 sq mi) in the Baffin Bay, Northern Canada. The island even contains several mountain ranges, such as the Treuter Mountains and the Haddington Range.





11 Bergeggi, Italy

One of the smallest islands on the list, Bergeggi is a tiny island in the Ligurian Sea in Italy. Currently uninhabited, the island bears evidences of a historical settlement. On its summit, there is a watch tower and remains of a 4th-century church devoted to St. Eugenius.

Prvic, Croatia


Located in the Adriatic Sea, Prvic is a Croatian island notable for strong bora winds that makes it the windiest island of the country. Despite its relatively small size (13 sq km or 5 sq mi), the island is home to numerous plant and bird species including the endangered Griffon vulture.

Monu Island is an uninhabited Fijian island of the Mamanuca Islands, a volcanic archipelago famous for palm fringed sandy beaches and live coral reefs. The island is just 1,370 m (4,500 ft) long from north to south, and up to 1,070 m (3,500 ft) wide.

Measuring only 0.25 sq km (0.1 sq mi) in area, Cominotto is a tiny island in the Maltese archipelago. It lies just 100 m (330 ft) north-west of Comino, the third largest Maltese island. Between Cominotto and Comino, there is the famous Blue Lagoon, a popular tourist spot.
