Pakistan's Supreme Court on Wednesday barred opposition leader Nawaz Sharif from elected office. The court also upheld a challenge against the election of Nawaz Sharif's brother, Shahbaz Sharif, to a seat in the Punjab Assembly. PML-N leadership has refused to accept this decision.
PML-N leaders say that they don’t accept the verdict of existing judiciary which is composed of PCO judges, they are illegitimate judges because they took oath from a dictator in November 2007 but someone should ask Mr Nawaz Sharif that what about Ifthikaar Choudry who also took oath from same dictator in 1999, Ifthikaar Choudry validated Pervaiz Musharraf in 1999 who dismissed Nawaz sharif`s elected Government.
Another notable point is that PML-N leaders are ready to accept the election 2008 results which were arranged by same dictator and same PCO Judges because its results were in their party’s favor but not ready to accept the verdict of same PCO judiciary because it is not in their favor.
Secondly, Nawaz Sharif talks of what the people want, little realizing that he has barely one-third representation in parliament. Mr Sharif, what about the other two-thirds, what do they have to say? Nawaz Sharif talks about what people want but he forgets that PPP is the only party which has seats in all four provinces not his party and PPP didn’t contest election on the slogan of reinstatement of deposed judiciary.

Most unfortunate part of this whole episode is the agitation based politics of the PML-N supporters who damaged public and private property during their protest in various cities they burned tyres, blocked traffic, and attacked property. In Rawalpindi, some even destroyed posters of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and damaged the memorial at the public park where she was assassinated on Dec. 27, 2008,destroying public and private property..is this democracy?
Our politicians should refrain from this type of politics which is badly destabilizing democracy; Sharif brothers should accept this verdict of Supreme court and should adopt a legal way rather than dragging this matter into streets. Democracy is not just contesting elections, it is attitude which makes you democratic or not. Our politicians should realize that our public is fed up of all this drama; they want immediate solution of their problems.
