DUBAI: Two quick dismissals by seamer Umar Gul brought Pakistan back into the game as England lost their two early wickets after bowling out Pakistan for 99 in the first innings on the opening day of the third and final Test match being played here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
England were 19 for two at tea break with captain Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen batting on nine and six, respectively.
The batsmen went back to the pavillion were Alistair Cook (one) and Jonathan Trott (two) as both were dismissed by Umar Gul.
Gul took two wickets for seven runs in four overs.
Earlier, captain Misbah-ul-Haq decided to bat first on an easy wicket after winning the toss but his batsmen could not resist against the accurate English bowling attack right from the beginning and their innings was folded 72 minutes after lunch break.
Pace bowlers Stuart Broad and James Anderson captured four wickets for 36 runs and three for 35, respectively while spinners Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann claimed two for 25 and one for nought, respectively.
Asad Shafiq was the only Pakistan batsman who provided great resistance for his fighting 45 from 78 balls with three boundaries. Opener Mohammad Hafeez (13) and tail-enders Saeed Ajmal (12) and Umar Gul (12) were the other players who entered into double figures.
