Taj Mahal is an Urdu/Persian name which means .crown of palaces’. The Taj Mahal, also ‘the Taj” is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the finest example of the Mughal architecture. Besides it is widely recognized as ‘the Jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage”. Being built entirely of white marble, its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, especially at dawn and dusk. The white marble of the Taj Mahal makes it appear glowing in the moonlight. And on a foggy morning, when viewed from the Jamuna river, the Taj Mahal appears as if suspended.
There is a very adorable love story behind the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan, (January 5, 1592–January 22, 1666), who was the 5th Mughal Emperor/king, had 3 wives.( Akbarabadi Mahal, Akbarabadi Mahal, Kandahari Mahal and Mumtaz Mahal). Mumtaz Mahal was his finest and the most adoring wife. She dies during giving birth to her 14th child in in Burhanpur in 1631. She was only 38 when she died. Shah Jahan felt very sad and inconsolable after his most loving wife’s death. And he decided to build a mansion in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal. He wanted his wife to be most famous in the world. That famous that each and everybody know about her endlessly in this world.
It took 22 years to complete the whole construction of Taj Mahal. About 20.000 labors and 1000 elephants worked hardly to construct this magnificent monument as perfect as possible. The platform and catacomb took unevenly 12 years to complete. The rest of the Mahal took 10 years to complete as Shah Jahan’s order. This miraculous complex is made by white marble and stands on a sandstone platform. The tomb of King Shah Jahan is next to the tomb of her Loving wife, Queen Mumtaz Mahal.
It has a height of 137 feet from ground to top; The Taj Mahal has 239 feet in the length. Inside the Taj Mahal you can see it is decorated using colorful marbles and at the four corner of the Mahal there are four very tall minarets which are also made by white marble. Each minaret ha 40 meters in its height and all is divided into three parts. Taj Mahal is surrounded by water fountains and green gardens which measures up to 300 meters. It runs from the gateway to the bases. Everything here is like a miraculous.
