A resume contains a summary or listing of a person's relevant job experience and education. A curriculum vitae is similar but focuses more on education, publications, and other academic accomplishments.

Resume:One page, sometimes two pages
Curriculum Vitae:Two pages or a little more

Contents
Resume:Focus is on work experience, listed in reverse chronological order.
Curriculum Vitae:Includes a summary of academic background as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details

Purpose
Resume:Job applications.
Curriculum Vitae:In Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, employers expect a CV. In the U.S., a CV is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions.
