The Cave City was brought to international recognition by a Brit in 1858 and it is said that the ruins of the Cave City date back to 1500 BC. Named after a woman known with two names, 'Mai Gondrani' and 'Mai Brochani' - her grave is located at the far end of the caves city. The cave city has equal respect from the Muslims and the Hindus for the significance of mannats.
