Fellow Pakistanis and all Guppies, this 6 September 2011 marks the
46th Defence Day of Pakistan.
All nations alive with a sense of patriotism and nationalism celebrate and honour days of the past which are remembered as the nation's moments of glory and above all honour the men who play crucial roles.
These eternal men are remembered with utmost high regard and are saluted for their roles.
6 September 1965 was one such day of glory for the Pakistani nation.
As war broke out with India in the wee hours of 6 September 1965 the nations sons of the soil in uniform were ready to lay down their lives in service to the motherland.
Like every year this 6 September we celebrate the Defence Day mainly by remembering the sacrifices and selfless devotion for the defence of Pakistan and its frontiers by the Men in uniform, in land, air and at sea.
We SALUTE the Shaheeds, Ghazis, the MIAs, the POWs who embraced the roughest of rides in order to make sure Pakistan and its glory remained safe and intact, and above all to ensure the safety and security of all Pakistanis, us, our ancestors.
We also salute the many men and women in uniform who have served the nation in all hours of need be it floods, earthquakes, political crisis, terrorism, bombings, and all other battles. From the depth of the oceans to the heights of the Himalayas and above the skies and beyond.
Pakistan SALUTES its SOLDIERS, the men and women in UNIFORM who are ever ready for the ultimate sacrifice for Pakistan, so that we and our Pakistan may prosper.
A special SALUTE for the officers and men who have been martyred while fighting terrorists in recent times.
We also reflect and remember those historic 17 days from 6 September to 23 September 1965 which are counted among the most crucial 17 days in the life of Pakistan. The young nation rediscovered itself. Tales of glory were written in red for the coming generations to be inspired and learn from.
The Faith, Unity & Discipline were displayed at its best. Not just among marching soldiers but among each and every man, woman and child. In cities and in villages. Everyone was ready to play their part.
Let us also remember and cherish the experiences people had in those days, the experience of patriotism, readiness for sacrifice, the restlessness to do one's part, the memories of heroes, memories of air-raid sirens, evacuations, loved ones going to the border, some not returning, some returning injured. Let's share stories, memories and legends as recalled, heard, or experienced, from during those 17 days of glory..
