Lie to Me is about a consultant who is a human lie detector.
He knows that his associate’s husband is lying to her about his whereabouts,
he knows when criminals are lying. But as his colleague puts it,
”The fact that someone lied is not as important as why they lied.”
One of the consultancy’s members is a chronic truth-teller.
Another member was a former airport security worker who,
by genetic selection, has the uncanny ability to sense liars from far away.
In the show, Dr. Cal Lightman and his colleagues accept assignments from local or federal law enforcement
and assist in investigations, reaching the truth through applied psychology:
interpreting microexpressions, through the Facial Action Coding System, and body language.
