ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab on Thursday said that the PPP government is working for the interest of the poor masses of the country and it would complete its tenure.

Talking to a private news channel, she said, “there is no situation of mid-term elections in the country. As all the institutions are sincerely working for the welfare of the country,” she added.

PPP information secretary said the People's party has a majority in the parliament, adding that's why there is no question of a mid-term election in the country.

She said the PPP government is ruling with a strong mandate from the poor masses of the country, adding it is working for the welfare and development of the poor.

Replying to a question about Altaf Hussain's statement, she said PPP is a democratic party and has firm belief in democracy. The information secretary said PPP always opposed martial law.

"Martial law is neither in the country's interest and nor its masses," she maintained.

She said, “Democratic system is imperative for development and also the enhancement of economic growth in the country.”

Fauzia Wahab said the democratic system results into welfare, development and prosperity for the society. She said the PPP had rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in the country.
